We all know what “Virtual Reality” is, but what the heck is “Augmented Reality”? How is it different from VR and how does it work? I’m writing this little jargon-free introduction to “AR” as a quick reference guide for anyone that wants to catch up in a hurry. :)

Virtual Reality (VR) is the real-time simulation of environments; We take real-world people, and subject their conscious experience to simulated, virtual worlds.

Augmented Reality (AR) is the real-time simulation of objects or characters. We bring digital creations into physical reality by superimposing them onto a live camera feed.
